The Wisdom of Uncertainty
What I Ching teaches about change.
The I Ching begins from a fact that is easy to resist: conditions change. A situation that looks fixed may already contain the beginning of its opposite.
A hexagram does not need to promise certainty to be useful. It describes the structure of the present moment: where there is strength, where there is danger, what is moving and what should not be forced.
Moving lines make this especially clear. They show that the reading itself contains transition. The first hexagram describes what is present; the resulting hexagram shows the direction produced by the changes.
Uncertainty is therefore not an error in the reading. It is part of the terrain. The task is to recognize what can be acted on now and what still belongs to developments beyond our reach.
